Hearing Health Professionals
Who are they?

 

  Audiologist

an individual, with post-graduate training in a college or uni­versity program, specializing in the evaluation of hearing and rehabilitation of the hearing impaired individual. Must be licensed to practice in New York State. Ongoing Continuing Education is required.

  Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist

also called otologist or otolaryngologist, is a physician with specialization in diagnosing and treating diseases of the ear, nose and throat. Must be licensed to practice.

Hearing Aid Dispenser

         also called hearing aid dealer, fits and sells hearing aids. 
A license is required in New York State. Hearing aid dispensers are not required to have college or university training. However, it is well known that many of them are highly skilled and some have extensive formal training. In fact, many audiologists have become hearing aid dispensers and vice versa.
