Community Events Senior Audiologist Seth Ofgang represented Huntington Hearing at the Senior Health Fair held at the Cold Spring Harbor Labs, Rte 25A, on Tuesday, November 15th 9am-5pm.
Dr. Gardner Lectures Seniors
Harvey J. Gardner, Audiologist and Director, Huntington Hearing and Speech Center, recently lectured participants during a free hearing screening for seniors held at the Dolan Family Health Center. The screening was cosponsored by the hospital and the Huntington Hearing and Speech Center. More than 40 individuals had their hearing tested. Dr. Gardner pointed out that nearly 90 percent of those over the age of 80 have a hearing loss, and only five million of the 25 million Americans who need hearing aids use the devices. Dr. Gardner attributed part of this to vanity, however he noted that "With present technology, hearing aids are so small that they are virtually unnoticeable.
